We recently sat down with Jillian Gadd, an Inside Sales Representative for Hitachi Vantara Federal, for her story, insights and perspectives on her role, the company culture, and what drives her passion for mentorship in federal technology sales.
What’s your background and role within Hitachi Vantara Federal?
I have been an account manager in federal technology sales for about 4 years with a total of 6 years sales experience. I recently started a new role as an inside sales representative at Hitachi Vantara Federal in early January – a role I transitioned to from Dell Technologies where I was a federal account manager for a little over 3 years.
What does Hitachi Vantara Federal look like on the inside?
The Hitachi Vantara Federal office is full of wonderful people who are willing to drop everything to help me out as the new girl in the office. My coworkers make work fun, and provided me a fantastic onboarding experience. I look forward to learning more from everyone and working with them.
How do you recharge or find inspiration outside of work?
I like to take time for myself to do the little things I enjoy, like trying new coffee shops or restaurants in our local city Washington, DC. I love to explore the city… every day I find something new! My friends and I also love to paint pottery which few people know about me.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to work in federal technology sales?
I think as a woman in this field, it is extremely important to stay true to yourself. Throughout my time working in federal technology sales, I have encountered very impressive women who I look up to. Some of the best advice I have received is to have good role models, and so I always try to surround myself with people I can learn from!

My favorite part about Hitachi Vantara Federal so far are the people! In a little under a month, I have been truly blown away by how caring, fun, inspiring, and brilliant the people here are! They really care about onboarding, learning, and getting their new hires ramped up. I am very happy with my new role, and I look forward to remaining within the company for years to come!
